Dieting

I am dieting in an attempt to lose weight.

I am doing it the old fashioned way. Three meals a day. Chew every bite 25 times. No snacking between meals.

My weight loss is slower than I want. I may have to cut down to TWO breakfasts, two lunches and only one supper a day.

  2. I came to post the same thing as jim rock.
"Eat less, exercise more" doesn't work for most human beings and it has never worked for me. When I want to lose weight, I stop eating. The biggest reason is this - I am incapable of "eating less." Once I start eating, I eat until I am satisfied. Am I weaker than most? Maybe. Or maybe 90% of people are just like me but they won't admit it.
If you have an urge, is the solution to half satisfy it? If you're horny but don't want to have sex, is the solution to do heavy petting? If you have to piss but can't do it now, is the solution to piss a small portion out? If you have an addiction to heroin or alcohol, is only taking a small portion a good idea? My point is this - (for me at least) moderation is bullshit. Once I give in to my urges, I continue until I'm satisfied. I find it easier to lose weight by skipping a day eating or going to a 4-hour eating window than by eating 3 or 4 small meals a day.

BTW, google Butter Bob's "why are fat people hungry" and Jason Fung's "solving the two-compartment problem." I think you'll enjoy them and they're thought provoking.

  3. If one diet isn't working, try two.
Actually, diets are designed to fail. It needs to be long term lifestyle changes and commitments.

  4. It's hard, but it gets easier when you decide to be serious about it. If you feel hungry - grab a set number of cashews or pecans or peanuts and eat them one at a time. You can easily miss a meal by doing this.

When I want to lose weight, I skip breakfast and lunch. By doing this a few times a month, I can keep my weight right around the same without any issues and still enjoy meals.

    1. Disclosure, I was about 25 lb overweight (by BMI measurement) up to 2018, lost 20 of it for medical reasons, and have been stable at 10 lb overweight since.

  7. Have you ever noticed the serving size of food seems ridiculously small? Anyways, watching an alone series I noticed some of the women seemed incredibly grateful for what ever food the found and they actually did very well on the show. So, I reduced my serving size of food and here is the critical part, I prayed to god that I was grateful for it. That it would sustain me till my next meal. For the month of September I lost 15 pounds, it’s not perfect but I think about what and how much I eat.

    1. I think you are on to something with your observation regarding portion size.

Some women honestly think they are only eating 1500 Calories a day but their portion sizes are twice as big as what is listed.

Mrs ERJ briefly tried a all-purchased-food diet. Early on, she prepared a meal and was surprised to find a portion of ranch dressing included. Upon reading the label, it was a portion of mac-and-cheese.

That tells me that what we now consider the size of a condiment portion is actually the size of portion.
