Natural and predictable consequences

Woke Minneapolis school district's new teacher contract stipulates that all white teachers will be laid-off before a single person-of-color is laid-off in the event of budget issues.

Regardless of seniority. Regardless of their history of discipline actions. Regardless of skill-sets and linguistic abilities or age-group they are credentialed to teach.

Currently, 80% of grade-school teachers are white. I assume the stream of eligible teachers coming out of college is about 75% white.

There is a shortage of people willing to work. Teachers are leaving $40k/year positions and working in retail management for $55k because of the similarity in skill sets.

Due to revenue constraints, public schools cannot match those salaries.

Wait for it...by December the Minneapolis school district will be whining that no white people are applying for their open positions and they cannot find enough qualified P-o-C who want to work in Minnestupid.

The reason given for the blatantly racist contract is to rectify long-standing racial discrimination and they point to the racial composition disparity between the students and the teachers as "evidence". That might be true IF the immigrants to the United States was 80% Swedes and Norwegians, Krauts Germans and Italians. But 95% or more of the immigrants are P-o-C and their children are filling city schools and the parents are not qualified to teach.

Stupid should hurt.

  2. Agreed. Stupid should hurt. Thats the problem with society and the social safety net that is in place. It removes all of the pain, ergo, stupid doesn't hurt.
Cold, damp, and hungry is a miserable existence, thats why people work - to pay for food, shelter, and heat.

    1. The real problem is that the stupid rarely hurts the most deserving. It can be very attenuated.

We know what the solution to that will be.

  4. Let them have it. Let the progressive liberals have whole cities and/or entire states. Conservatives be damned and barred from entrance!

Sit back and watch their demise as they devour themselves and devolve into societal collapse and chaos.

For as much as progressives HATE conservatives, they sure find them useful for creating and maintaining such things as electricity, plumbing, HVAC, transportation, logistics, food, etc...

    1. Kurt Schlichter has several novels recounting, among other things, how such a Gone Galt scenario might work out.

  5. I doubt that teachers are leaving massive time off, guaranteed pensions, free or low cost health insurance for jobs in Retail where they most likely only get two weeks vacation and get to work weekends and holidays for a bump in salary. I would say that like most workers the reasons have to do with management, usually in having a shitty boss.

    1. If you are talking about Summer as massive time off, that is massive Unpaid time off. Salary is part of the reason teachers leave. Another part is all they have to teach ( depending on school district and state) that has little to do with what the kids will need to learn to survive. Such as teaching that white people suck and are all racist. Teaching that transgender is a good idea and teaching it to children who have little to know knowledge of sexuality to begin with. ( Like before 4th grade.) Lots of things are piled onto teachers that are more about woke agendas. Again, depending on state etc. Some teachers jobs revolve around results from standardized state test scores. But in large cities it is common to have kids with parents in jail, kids who may be homeless or sleeping on a relatives couch. May have have parents who are drunks or drug users. Trying to teach kids with that much turmoil in there lives can be a huge challenge.

    2. Most school district let the teachers pick getting paid 10 months or 12 months and the checks are cut monthly but they are getting a set yearly amount.
The teaching of racism/and all the other "isms" are from management (Politian's both State and Fed).
All the problems you list with students are not new, teachers have always faced those challenges since teaching began.

    3. As someone who substitute taught a bit, I would say the primary reason to leave teaching is the horrible behavior of too many of the little shits in your classroom. And there is very little that a teacher can do about it these days. An awful lot of poor student behavior should be met with corporal punishment followed by swift expelling. If teachers could be allowed to teach those who are there to learn rather than be glorified babysitters for crappy kids with over-entitled parents, it would be a pretty good gig.

  6. Teachers, as a group, aren't on the top row of the IQ chart but they're certainly bright enough to figure out what's coming. I suspect there may not be enough white teachers left to lay off because they will have sought, and taken, employment of some kind elsewhere long before it comes to that.

And, as DavidS (above) points out, the outcome is entirely predictable.

Any bets on how long before they change the state's name to Minnefornia?

    1. Good teachers will follow the trend that medical folks have pioneered, concierge care. Lots of parents would like to pull their children from public schools to avoid the social justice nonsense, but are unwilling to homeschool. But groups of parents could hire a good teacher to teach a small group of children. And have some real control over the curriculum. Good teachers should think about that career path. They might even get to teach.

  7. The mistake most people make is assuming this is in some way aimed at white people, like the teachers. It isn't, it's aimed at those blacks who think they're 'winning'. (Notice how it's only in the poor areas, the schools etc. that Dem politicians children attend are so uniformly pale they look like a klan meeting).

The marxists ... er, I mean Democrats always, but always wanted segregation.

It may have taken a few decades, but now they've finally almost reached their goal of persuading (ie. dumbing down and bribing) the blacks to want and demand it themselves.

There are already black only this, and black only that in schools, colleges, offices and businesses. All they need to do now is "suggest" that attendance by a black person of anything 'but' black only areas is raciss and ... ta da segregation in all but name.

And a majority of blacks will cheer (as long as they still get their EBT cards). They think being segregated to the 'front' of the bus is actually somehow different than last time.

Me? I'm now so jaded (after being turned down, passed over, ignored, over-charged and received sub-standard everything for being 'too pale' for decades) I think they should get exactly what they demand, good and hard.

  8. The easiest way around problems like this one is to insist, as voters, on school choice. Then the marketplace can decide how it wants to hire and fire teachers.
