Tuesday fine art

Song of Angels

William-Adolphe Bouguereau 30 November 1825 – 19 August 1905) was a French academic painter. In his realistic genre paintings he used mythological themes, making modern interpretations of classical subjects, with an emphasis on the female human body. During his life he enjoyed significant popularity in France and the United States, was given numerous official honors, and received top prices for his work. As the quintessential salon painter of his generation, he was reviled by the Impressionist avant-garde. By the early twentieth century, Bouguereau and his art fell out of favor with the public, due in part to changing tastes.  Throughout the course of his life, Bouguereau executed 822 known finished paintings. Bouguereau is notable for how light penetrates his flesh-tones and his bucolic composition.

I heard from somebody who is closer to Remus, author of The Woodpile Report.

It was his impression that Remus pulled his head in, like an old snapping turtle and did not want to be pestered. That would count as good news.

  1. WOW, Joe!

So I just checked the woodpile report site, then swung over here. I thought I was dreaming- you started with a photo of fine art. And art history kinda stuff. Like Remus.

You captured the mood of the woodpile report. And I miss Old Remus, but if he wants to lay low, well, good on him.

    Peace.

  6. Mr. Joe... This is the Gray Man of FreeAmericanNational blog and American Partisan. So it is your impression that Remus is just taking his time to himself? As in, not dead, correct?

    1. My IMPRESSION is that Remus is following his own advice. If you decide to "go dark", just disappear.

I have no hard information, but Remus is a gentleman of the classical sort. I would not be surprised if he had a "To Whom it May Concern" letter pre-written and somebody designated to post it in the event he goes room-temperature.

Since I have not seen that letter, I assume the best.

  7. Yeah; been noticing that Remus' reports have been abridged since his wife passed. I was actually surprised he kept it up. I guess some people bury their grief in their work. Unfortunately, it almost always surfaces down the line. God be with you, Remus!
