Discharged 5 PM yesterday.
Moved to Mom's house because it is all set up for invalid care.
Slept like a rock and skipped two pain-med drops. I will not do that again. That broken rib complained a lot.
I am curious about my outrageous good fortune. 4-to-5 hour surgery was in-and-out in 90 minutes and so on. Is there really that big of a range in health between slightly below average health an that of somebody who is still active but not superman?
I'm sure there is.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are recovering.
Living under grace.
ReplyDeleteKarma!!!!
ReplyDeleteAccording to my sister the RN and flight nurse, yes there is a huge difference, especially from recovering from anesthesia and post surgery pneumonia.
ReplyDeleteHeal up.
Additionally chances of infection, COVID and lack of staff moves low risk people out of the hospital ASAP
DeleteMost definitely. Your choice to remain active and your underlying general health will positively impact your recovery. It won’t shorten the time necessary to surgically repair injured tissue but may have minimized the damage you incurred. You also may have had an exceptional surgical team.
ReplyDeleteTake the pain meds as ordered. Being reasonably comfortable helps with recovery, too. Glad you are out and in familiar surroundings. Heal up and get back to it. The garden isn’t gonna plant itself.
Many have petitioned God on your behalf. Do not discount the effect this has. Prayers for your continued healing and rapid recovery.
ReplyDeleteLet the jokes of adult son living at Mom's begin.
ReplyDeleteYes, the power of prayer.
That is funny!!! I already stole it and texted it to my kids.
DeleteDon't be so modest Joe. We know you are Superman.--ken
ReplyDeleteGlad the surgery is over and you are out. Follow all the instructions
ReplyDeleteas needed (pain medications are always hard to justify for myself as well). Continuing prayers up.
Prayers are still going out for you. And it is better to keep ahead of pain than trying to play catch up. Your body will thank you.
ReplyDeletePigpen is correct. It is easier to control pain, than it is to wrestle it into control.
DeleteStay ahead of your pain. At the very least, with that rib fracture, effective ain control will render you less susceptible to pneumonia.
I got first-hand experience with that last night. I delayed the 5mg Oxy a couple of hours and that was a painful decision. Once the broken rib started talking it didn't stop.
DeleteDanged rib. Could not find a position for arm that did not elicit sharply worded comments from my rib. Once in bed the pain disappeared.
Lesson duly noted,
Yes there IS that much difference in health! Prayers up Joe!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better and you had a short time in OR. Prays were said on your behalf. Off topic, please take a gander at the Camping Saturday post at Bustednuckles.com on Saturday that I co host, you might enjoy one of the pics I found...

Great news that you are out of hospital. Can confirm playing catch up on pain meds is for the WAY tougher than me. Not worth it.
ReplyDeleteAnd was that new arrangement at Mom's house on the ground level, or in the basement?
Get well soon Joe
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a full recovery as quick as possible. I'd like to say "speedy recovery", but I've had cracked ribs before. I'm glad to hear you have painkillers for it.
