I spent just about every spare minute during my high school summers hunting jacks in the sage brush and juniper of northern California. It's true, they can make a 90 degree turn on a dime and not lose any speed.
As to your admonition about running 90 mph, I was thinking more like 900 fps.
My youngest son-in-law went rabbit hunting with me . He took two good shots and missed them both . I said let me see that shotgun . He had deer slugs in it . I gave him some of my 6's and he cleaned up the valley field and we had rabbit gravy .
If I wrote fiction, I would have CW-II kick off when Uncle Howie walked to his Ford Escort in the church parking lot, opened the liftgate, pulled out his 870 Wingmaster and stuffed it full of turkey loads.
Then Uncle Howie walks back into the sanctuary and starts sending the godless heathens to Judgement Day.
No premeditation. It just all clicked together.
Splashing blood on altars has a long history.
It is entirely plausible that he could roll up five-of-seven goblins.
Sounds like an excellent start to a novel I would enjoy reading. Hope you are doing well and the pain is controllable. Prayers for your swift recovery.
My money would be on Joe-Bob drawing his EDC sidearm, and "clearing the bowling pins", mag change, and looking for outside security elements from the GFA: Goblin Forces of America.
Rabbits are not only fast but can be surprisingly fierce when cornered. There are some lovely samurai mon with them as they were seen as symbol of speed and always going forward.
And yes, a great many people are the beneficiaries of a peace that they do not realize.
People these days just don't realize that what most of us consider normal, a calm peaceful society where we can function unmolested (outside of the cesspool big cities) is NOT normal. It's a historical aberration that can disappear literally overnight.
I guess that my point is that there are multiple factors that have protected the Loonies. One is that many places prohibit concealed carry in places of worship.
It is Turkey Season. It is perfectly reasonable that Uncle Howie had a shotgun and ammo in his personal vehicle.
It is also worth pointing out that a tightly patterned 12 gauge and turkey-loads (2 oz of tungsten shot), with a Red-dot scope is incredibly lethal at 20 yards. Uncle Howie would be trying for, and making "neck" shots with near 100% success.
It would not be premeditated. Just the stars aligning to the disadvantage of those who have been cutting the redundant, multiple strands of civil society.
Uncle Howie snapped when he watched old, Father Drogo getting roughed up and the Communion Wine spilled.

DeleteMe too on the 900 fps. Unless they're bullet proof.

ReplyDeleteI had been thinking along the same lines but a might faster at 4200fps.

The sixth, Thou Shalt not kill, is the first of the next four of how society should be in order of peace.
ReplyDeletePlease do not misuse the incorrect translation of the Commandment.
ReplyDeleteThe accurate translation is, "Do not murder."
Self defense is a God given right.
War is a god reason to kill.
