Fine Art Tuesday

Watermill
Frits Thaulow born in 1847 in Norway and died in 1906.

Famous for his incredible ability to paint moving water much the way William Bouguereau was famous for capturing the luminous quality of skin.

This is a fragment of the painting shown above. It shows the level of detail: The distorted reflection of a window, up-welling current, shadowy underwater rocks or seaweed, partial swirls, deeper water in the foreground.

Administrative note: I petered out with Fine Art Tuesday. Strategically, I made a mistake covering artists rather than individual works of art. I will see if I can get some momentum by highlighting just one painting a week.

Hat-tip Lucas Machias.
