More than likely I'll address the political topic if someone else brings it up. It often quickly becomes apparent if I'm speaking to a drone / NPC. I prefer to tell such people to "Believe what you want to believe." and that is the response they receive when they try to engage in politics in the future. Rarely does anything good come from conversing with such people.
If it's a discussion then that's an entirely different matter. A good sign that someone is more than a mere automation and capable of thinking is if they ask questions; preferably self-originating questions. Such people that are capable of incorporating new information may find repeated engagement. I usually don't turn them down because they might have new information for me as well.
However, I usually avoid politics these days outside of my small circle.
Well, "Politics is beneath me" has worked for me in the past.
ReplyDelete(RIMSHOT) HUZZAH!!!
