Pro-tip of the day

While researching lube for cast bullets, I was reminded that the wax rings used to seal toilets to the soil pipe have many uses.

For example, winter is coming and people who are vulnerable to chapped lips often spend big money for chapstick.

The material in toilet bowl rings is virtually the same material and is even more effective and far more cost effective.

Of course, some people insist on using NEW toilet bowl rings for their home-made chapstick. That is both more expensive and less of a deterrent to licking one's lips.

  1. In an emergency, you can also use that wax to temporarily cover a cavity in a tooth. It's not optimal, but no hard fillings.

Reminds me of a joke about the cowboy who had chapped lips. His buddy told him to stick his finger up a horse's but and wipe it on his chapped lips. Cowboy#1 asks if it's a cure for chapped lips. His buddy says no, but it sure keeps you from licking them.

    1. You caught me.

There are no new jokes. Only new picture frames the jokes are hung with.

I am familiar with the cowboy joke as well and it was my inspiration.

  3. And the ring is a good lube for threaded fasteners into wood.
