Idaho contributes another euphemism for "Pedophile" to the language: KE Attracting Person.
It is common knowledge that if you don't want to get hit by lightning then you best not shelter beneath a tall tree in an electrical storm...or hold up metal sticks on a golf course.
I read about this and everyone is quick to judge without many facts. The young man who was the alleged pedophile clearly had problems. He had been caught masturbating in class during high school. The neighbor's mom and kids were outside and saw the young man in his house in front of a window jerking it. It is, however, unclear whether he was looking at the kids, at the mom, or at porn, while doing that, so the rush to label him as a "pedophile" may be premature. Nevertheless, I think we can all agree the young man wasn't exactly normal. Also, the neighbor (father) shot 4 people, not just the young man who had an impulse control problem. I wouldn't want my kids around the young man but I'm withholding judgment on labeling it a "good shoot" until more facts are given.
ReplyDeleteI am not calling it a "good shoot" either.
DeleteI am pointing out that being one of those people or hanging out with people who appear to have those kinds of issues might be hazardous to your health.
Humanity used to do a better job at culling the tail end of the behavioral distribution before we became "civilized," or at least pretended we were civilized. Too many people want to close their eyes and pretend that we actually have successful methods for treating these kinds of mental illnesses when most attempts are failures and just delay harsher methods of dealing with them until something more serious happens.
ReplyDeleteDiversity in behavior is acceptable in small doses. Not in large ones, and particularly not when the deviation is negative. A large deviation from normal begets a correspondingly large response.
The bar for our educational system has been lowered for the last 50 years and these people shout 'progress'!!
