A passing thought on Juneteenth

Some brave, WOKE academic suggested that White people not celebrate the Federal holiday Juneteenth.

He said white people should go to work while POCs took the time off.

You know, I am OK with that.

But would I be stirring the pot if I suggested that there are Federal Holidays that commemorate "white people" being freed? Maybe Independence Day.

So I am fine with Federal employees who are People-of-Color having Juneteenth off as long as they come in and deliver the mail and keep the banks open on July 4th.

Of course, the whole Juneteenth thing ignores the people now known as "essential workers", you know, the staff at the Emergency Room and the dude stocking the shelves at Walmart and the Hispanic single mom cleaning rooms at the local hotel.

  2. Actually, as I understand it, Juneteenth is also the day Julius and Ethel Rosenberg went off to their etheral reward for aiding and abetting efforts of the USSR to acquire atomic weapons.

  3. I addressed that about 15 years ago when I had a woman who worked for me and wanted Holiday pay for Kwanza as it was part of her ancestors religion and some other shit. . I told her yes, she could get the day off with pay, but then she had to work on Christmas because if she believed in the tenets of Kwanza then she couldn't be/wasn't Christian so then Christmas wouldn't be a holiday for her (she was trying to get a free day and I knew it)...she chose Christmas as her holiday.
    Funny, that.

  4. Another question: If government offices are open but no black people work during Juneteenth, would it really in any noticeable way affect productivity or customer service. Would anyone really notice their absence?

  5. I already don't celebrate Juneteenth. I don't care if some people want to celebrate a day they had to be rescued by Federal troops in Texas. It means nothing to me. Same with singing a "black anthem", though I'm not sure I would characterize it as a national anthem. Sing what you want, but then realize that privilege is one everyone gets.

If they don't want to celebrate the patriotic holidays of the United States, well I doubt anyone is forcing them. But I won't be forced either.

  6. Love him or hate him, Fred Reed has cobbled together a few thoughts on the matter:

  7. There have never been as many black or "people of color" slaves as white slaves throughout history.
Whites have been and still are traded all over the world. Most for the sex industry.
Juneteenth is the epitomy of fake victimhood. And the civil war wasn't about slavery, it was about states rights. There were more slaves in the north when the civil war started.

    1. Indeed, slavery remained legal in the northern states of Delaware and Kentucky AFTER the end of the Civil War until passage of the 13th Amendment (after ratified by the southern state of Georgia) on Dec 18th, 1865. Six months after "Juneteenth." The Emancipation Proclamation explicitly only applied to those states that had seceded from the Union.

  8. How blacks visit national (Yankee portion) cemeteries to honor and thank their WHITE liberators?

  9. EVERYTHING about the federal leviathon is fake and gay. Juneteenth should be revered; just like the "patriot act", the current resident of the white house's "most ballots" victory, the all clear that "we" didn't blow up the keystone pipelines, the latest "global" emergency and so on.
Jeffrey Epstein did kill himself and none of those sodomists on his visitor list are/were federal sodomists.

Viva la Clown World! Unfuck Joe Biden.

    1. We must have a different definition of "conservative". Mine is you do your thing and I do mine. You own your consequences and I own mine.
