California Reparations

Maybe I am pessimistic. I don't see how Nuke-up is going to squeeze $900k out of each one of these households. This picture was taken in Fresno.

The numbers are curious.

According to the 2020 Census, about 6% of California residents identify as Black and a $5M per nose reparation will levy a $900,000 debt on every California household. Since 40% of California residents identify as Hispanic, 40% of the reparation payments will be paid by Hispanic households. Even if they cannot pay directly, the funds sucked out of the budget will not be available for well-baby visits, medical care, education, food-assistance, clean water and a host of other important services.

Slavery was documented in Mexico (just one mainly Hispanic country that is a homeland of California Hispanics) as late as 1908 as Yaqui Indians were subjugated by the Federal government.

I just cannot visualize financially-stressed Hispanic households jumping up and yelling "Yippee! We get to pay $900k so LeBron, Magic, Ophra, Snoop, Kamala, Tiger and Barry Bonds can be healed of the lingering pains of slavery."

  1. Reparations as a concept is inherently flawed. Past grievances will not be relieved by placing a burden on current and future generations. Ask Weimer how that works out in the end.

  3. "and a host of other important services."

One might postulate that the current "important services" just be ended, cutting the size and cost of the state grubbermint. Rather than the burden falling on California households, it would be born by the people's public servants (remember THAT term?), who would be forced out of jobs so the alleged descendants of slaves can act like they're rich for a few months.

Unless, of course, the resulting consequences that were unexpected punish the severely math-challenged proposers of this insanity with extreme prejudice, before implementation.

  4. There is nothing serious to consider about "reparations".
The simple logistics of it just stop it in it's place.

  5. The "math" of reparations works as well as the "math" of Universal Basic Income.
The amounts involved are either crippling to those today it or insignificant to those who receive it.

    1. A math-based argument against reparations will gain no traction if the audience is not well versed in math.

In that case, an emotion-based argument is more likely to be heard. The zero-sum-game argument can be very convincing. Reparations does not create wealth. It moves it from one set of pockets to another. The main question is, Whose pockets get picked?

  6. Such insensitivity! For shame. Don't you know every white person everywhere is responsible for every bad thing that ever happened to anyone anywhere?

  7. The strategy is to talk numbers like $5 million per head so that when they actually come at you with a half a million apiece it seems reasonable and the sheeple breathe a sigh of relief and go along with it...till the next round. Classic bait and switch type of tactic.

  8. Reparations talk comes up every time the left starts feeling like the black vote is slipping away.
