Notice to readers

I upgraded to Windows 11 today.

It is buggy.

My cursor disappears when I move it around the page. I can see typos, misspellings and grammatical monsters and I cannot highlight and fix them.

So be forewarned. The posts over the next few days will be...odd.

Your patience is appreciated.

  2. No offense but,
We come here because your posts are odd.

  3. After drinking this glass of wild lettuce tea I shall zoom off to deep sleep dream land and not worry about a damn thing . It was a great crop of instant deep sleep weed with a bonus effect of transmutating into an instant Saint Kyle state of awakeness in a heartbeat this year . The dreams from this blessed weed are quite unique .

  5. Not that it helps you, but I went to 11 about 3 months ago. I've been able to access the Dev cycle since my last paying job, but just hadn't for some reason. Anywho, still running on Dev 11 updates and have had zero problems that I can attribute to the OS.

How old is your computer? From what I'm getting, this one is really aimed at very new computers, say less than 18 months or so old.

    1. The oldest files on it are from August, 2018 so that makes it about 40 months old.

    2. Yeah...I suspect that might be your problem. My suggestion is to uninstall Win 11 and stay on 10. You can do this if you are within 10 days of the upgrade. Instructions at https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/uninstall-windows-11.

This isn't unheard of, I'm afraid. I've seen this with other updates, both with Windows and Macs. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen.

The good news is that Win 10 will be supported for almost 5 more years. By the time you are faced with the loss of MS support, your old computer is past time for replacement anyway.

I know that some people like Linux, and there are versions that are easier to live with than others. If someone forced me to run Linux, I'd run Linux Mint. I tired Ubuntu and Debian on my newest machine, which runs all my ham radio gear and is the most "configured" of my computers. I never could get everything to run right, and even when deciding that some software, such as all the expensive RT Systems programming software, would just be jettisoned.

Opens source is great stuff if you want your computer to be a hobby. If you want it to be a tool, stick to Windows or Mac, and buy a new computer every 7 years or so.

      Good luck, whatever you decide.

  6. No Windows for me. Linux is much more stable. Ditched Windows about six years ago.

    1. The good news is that Belladonna's boyfriend is a computer nerd (and I say that in a friendly voice). It might be a good time to let him do me a favor.

  7. Just because MicroShaft says a PC is compatible with Windows 11 does not mean it will run well on that OS.

  8. I agree with Feral. I have been using Linux of various flavors for many years. It's free. It's stable.
