Idiots!

In back-to-back sentences the National Weather Service advises us to "bike to work" and then to "limit prolonged outdoor exertion"

Don't know about the cities, but out here in the sticks bicycling is done outdoors.

Which is it guys? Ride bikes or stay inside?

  1. Another government agency of little value. Time to drastically cut their budget. Weather forecasting can now be done by the private sector.

  6. What the heck is an "Action Day"? Is this just an arbitrary event being declared by the National Weather Service? This whole notice seems suspect in its content. Just how big of an impact will be measurable if every outdoor griller uses newspaper to start their charcoal instead of charcoal starter fluid? Does fueling your vehicle cause more pollution than driving the vehicle? Painting with water-based paint vs oil-based? I'm not even going to ask the question about how stupid "they" must think we are...

    1. Most of the country has these now... I believe they started in Los Angeles when the smog was bad decades ago.
Now the "action levels" for ozone, smog, etc have dropped so far that there is no discernable difference and they are VERY common in hot weather.

  8. Ride a bike and stay inside? Is that a thing? That seems to be in-line with the logic of the suggestion.
