Where the heart/lungs are on various species

Bear heart/lung area is higher than expected and slightly farther aft. Long fur hangs down. Fat also drapes down from the animal's frame making it look lower than it actually is.

Shooting in-line with front leg and center-of-mass puts venison in the freezer. It is surprising how far forward the shoulder/femur are. Probably to act as "leaf springs" to absorb shock when landing. Lungs are forward of the first seven rib.

Ditto, only bigger,

Unlike bears, the heart/lungs of bison are lower in the body than expected. The "hump" stores fat and might have heat-regulation functions. Some African animals have a similar configuration.

Moo!

The difference between a rhino and a RINO is that a rhino has a spine.
