Jan 16 Training Run

I intended to run yesterday but it did not happen.

I ran 2 miles today at a 43 minute 5k pace. Nothing dramatic. Just putting miles on the odometer.

Gear

One of the beautiful things about running is that it can be done with very little specialized gear. This is what my current load-out is when running at temperatures between 20F and 40F. At temps above 40F the vest gets swapped out for a wind-breaker.

  • One compression sock on my left leg, 20-30mm Hg compression
  • White athletic socks
  • New Balance 481 Trailrunning shoes
  • Sweat pants (w/ pocket knife, a couple of antacid tabs and paper towels for runny nose)
  • Small fanny pack
  • Tee shirt with pocket
  • "Wranglers Authentic" quarter-zip, long-sleeve fleece
  • High Visibility, insulated vest
  • Baseball cap (30-40 degrees F) or knit cap (20-30 degrees F)
  • Casio stop-watch

  3. Off topic for this post, but you might find this article interesting. It says that if you blend multiple grain types in one field you get higher yield and better response to variable conditions. https://www.sciencealert.com/fluke-discovery-of-ancient-farming-technique-could-stabilize-crop-yields
