Today's training run was slower than expected.
Scaled to a 5k, it would result in 44:20 which is very, very close to the 44:10 of the previous run. I thought it would be faster because I had a three-day recovery period.
I was scheduled to run yesterday but it was foggy and I chickened out.
Progress is not always an unvarying, upward trend.

ReplyDeleteERJ, you continue to inspire me. I just checked the mileage this morning - 1.25 miles, which is rather longer than I thought it would be. I am not up to timing yet, partially because I am slow and partially because I run with Poppy The Brave and so we make "stops"...
ReplyDeleteYou're getting out there, THAT is the important part. And no, not me... LOL
ReplyDeleteMany kudos to you for getting out there and putting in the effort! As many, or literally almost everyone, who participates in competitive sports soon comes to realize - just making the effort DOES NOT guarantee performance improvements. Even putting in a LOT of time and effort doesn't guarantee performance improvements ( but it does make you tough). If it did, I would have easily qualified for the Olympics (instead I was a highly competitive high school swimmer that WATCHED the Olympics ). The key thing is that you are working at it and moving. If running against the clock helps you focus on achieving a goal - keep sticking with running against the clock. The clock can be a merciless tyrant as well. Just remember - YOU'RE in charge. (Note - It's probably my athletic OCD prompting this warning.)
ReplyDeleteICYMI Dads Deadpool blog is numbering his collections in binary this year - 1, 10, 11, 100, 101 - old timey programmers dig it.
ReplyDeleteBinary I can dig. Hadta google ICYMI. OMG, I'm old!
