Think of Benicio as a world-class executive. Many of them are sociopaths. They are also smart enough to realize they need "gloves", i.e. underlings, to present an empathetic, human face to their decisions.
Also consider that nobody in Capiche knows what Benicio did with the prisoners. They are wondering, though, why Benicio wants more than a thousand mortar rounds. That seems excessive.
Freeholder said it best: Benecio will only be their friend for as long as it benefits them. They are now between a rock and a hard place. If they supply him with the mortar tubes and shells, they run the very real risk of those mortars being used on them whenever Benecio decides their relationship is no longer beneficial. If they refuse, they risk making Benecio their enemy effective immediately.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a temporary solution would be to stall for time while making Benecio think they are working on the new ordnance and munitions. But that would only work for awhile. Benecio will realize before very long that they are stringing him along. They had better come up with long term solution, and sooner rather than later.
