Oh, I agree that art should be freely expressed, but I don'ant it funded by the government. The starving artist is a cultural icon, the govt artist is a propoganddist.
As for the battle flag, it should rightfully go on the dust-heap of history.The Civil War was about slavery, and institution that was doomed, morally, by the time the war broke out. Eli Whitney had already doomed the slave economy, mechanically. As Pete Longrtreete so famously said, "We should have freed the slaves, then fired on Fort Sumpter.
