I got tired of using my finger as a shoehorn, but I'm cheap, so I cut down the slick plastic sleeve from a windshield wiper refill and started using that as a long shoehorn. You have to keep it flexed into a U shape or it will buckle on you, but it's cheap and you can make it pretty long. Jim_R
Another way, that works even with compression socks, is to turn half sideways on a couch or bed, so that your lower leg is raised and flat on the bed. Then you can easily bend to reach the foot / toe / leg. John in Indy
