Breaking out gender differences in Alcohol, Drug and Suicide death rates


Increase in death-rate per 100k between 2012 and 2018 broken down by gender, (drugs and alcohol) -or- suicide and binned by five year cohorts. The growth is dominated by increase in death-rate due to drugs and alcohol for males ages 25-44 and 55-69.

At the very best, males are twice as likely to die due to drugs and alcohol than females are. At the worst, males are three times more likely.

In the middle years, there are three male suicides for every female suicide. In the last decade of life there are NINE male suicides for every female suicide.
