Belladonna took Herc into the vet at 11:00 AM this morning.
Thank-you for all of the kind comments in the previous post. Bella read every one of them and she felt peace and strength. She knew when it was time. It hurt. But it would have hurt more if she had delayed. Again, thank-you.
I have one job to do today and that is to bury Herc just outside Bella's bedroom window. It is slow going. The top 8" is frozen but then it is clay which digs OK.

My heart hurts for her, you and your wife. I'm sure Herc had a good life and he will never be forgotten. It's such a painful decision, but one that has to be made. I think our love for a cat we had clouded our judgment and caused the cat undue pain. Mr ERJ, you are the rock sir.
ReplyDeleteDuty.
ReplyDeleteGood job.
My condolences for your daughter and your family. Doing the right thing can be hard and putting down a valued member of the family is high on the list of crappy adult decisions. Wish that day could be forgotten - it takes some time.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to lose a dog, they are part of the family, which is their pack. A tough day, I'm certain.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences, its hard losing a pet.
ReplyDeleteDeath is a life lesson. Our pets are the children who don't grow up and move out. My deepest sympathy for Bella.
ReplyDeleteCondolences to all of you, and respect to Bella for doing the right thing for Herc, as hard as that is.
ReplyDeleteCondolences on the loss of Hercules.
ReplyDeleteLosing your dog is a sad, sad thing. And the older you are the harder it becomes. My condolences to you all.--ken

All dogs go to Heaven Joe. He'll be there, waiting and wagging.
ReplyDeleteTell Bella that I'm sorry about Hercules. But someday, there will be another dog who needs a home, and she will be there.
ReplyDeleteCondolences ERJ.
