I don't know why rabbit's feet are considered lucky. It didn't do this one any good. |
I remain unimpressed by 2022.
Five days ago one of the key players on the ERJ team was perfecting the rules of a new game when they fell. They may have broken their rib. Perhaps the world is not ready for Rugby-on-Ice.
Their ribs hurt and the only way they can sleep is in the recliner. Note that the ERJ family is not wealthy in terms of worldly things. We only have ONE recliner in the house.
Herc
Herc gobbled the rabbit bones in the photo shown above. The bones were in the middle of the trail that leads to the back of our property. I took the picture and it never occurred to me that it posed a risk to the dogs.
Since that happened, Herc stopped eating. He isn't drinking either but he is eating snow whenever he gets the chance. We have a trip to the vet scheduled for Monday.
As long as he eats enough snow to stay hydrated I am 99.9% sure he will make it to Monday.
Political jawboning
Today is the anniversary of The Distraction.
Yes, the election system stinks and is riddled with fraud but most Americans see the two parties as being Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum. The distraction is not so much about electoral fraud (which is a big yawn for most Americans) but about the economy.
The Deep-State parades all kinds of statistics to convince us that the economy has fully rebounded. Arcane statistics are invented to "prove" things are back to normal. "Yes, Martha, the third-derivative of the Baltic Dry Index reverted to the mean blah, blah, blah..."
Meanwhile, regular Americans are going to Walmart and Kroger and seeing empty shelves. Lots of empty shelves.
There is a small Walmart in Charlotte, Michigan. The display for cold-cuts and pre-packaged deli meats is not very big. It might be 6 feet high by 15 feet across. Working from memory, there are about 120 "cubbies" for product. The cubbies are spring-loaded to push product closer to the aisle to present it to the customers.
On my last trip to that Walmart the only cubbies that were loaded were the lowest row. The shopper had the choice of Oscar Meyer baloney or Eckrich baloney. No salami. No olive loaf. No deli meats of any type.
I am not slamming Walmart. They cannot put product on the shelves if suppliers don't deliver product.
I don't blame the suppliers. If they had product, they would ship it. They cannot make payroll by keeping product in a warehouse.
I don't have anything against baloney. It is a lowest-common-denominator product.
Paid cheer-leaders can tell us the economy has recovered and is glorious.
Everybody else can see with their own two eyes that the supply chain is filled with air-bubbles. It is not getting better. The basic blocking-and-tackling required to make the economy run is not happening.
Intestinal blockages are nothing to fool with - they can kill quickly. I know you're not asking for advice - I hope he gets well..
ReplyDeleteRegarding Walmart, and all of the other stores, now would be a good time to buy some chicks if you don't already have some. And at least a years supply of chicken food.---ken
ReplyDeleteIbrespectfully disagree.
ReplyDeleteThe Dims are setting up this event as the Reichstag fire. Everything flowing forth will be predicated on the lie about Jan 6th being an insurrection. Fight THAT fight NOW, and you won't have the bigger fight later. Ignore it now, and the lie will grow into a monster of its own.
There are a LOT of empty shelves in most stores, not just Wally World.
ReplyDeleteI just got back from the Save a lot in Marshall, whole chickens $1.59 a lb up 50 cents. Eggs 2.09 a dozen, that is 80 cents more than Walmart last week. Good times are coming.
ReplyDeleteGrumpy
The empty shelves reflect the failing economy AND the shortage of truck drivers needed to deliver products nationwide. The great RESIGN where millions of formerly employed Americans are deciding to not work is having an effect.
ReplyDeleteHad to go to Walmart in upstate SC. Oil in automotive very slim. Asked the stocker kid about low stock levels. Said all product on the floor, not much coming in. I bought the next oil change for both vehicles. Needed some specialized bandages for wife's shoulder surgery wound. Very picked over, low stock. Chicken isle mostly had bone in chicken breast, not much else. Went to 3 different stores for a simple sling to support her arm while showering. Hardly any spray paint. Always check for canning lids, very hit or miss. Very few firearms,no ammo.I came home with a very unsettled feeling. Something is wrong.
ReplyDeleteI'm also in the upstate of SC in the NW corner of Oconee County. Maybe we're almost neighbors.
DeleteI lost a dog to a blockage. He wouldn't eat or drink. I didn't react quick enough. My fault. I still feel bad about it and that was 30 yrs ago
ReplyDeleteGood news: "The Adults are back in charge!" (Tm)
ReplyDeleteBad news; they are the adults from the memory care home.
I notice empty sections mostly at Walmart.
ReplyDeleteOther stores around seem ok. They’ll be missing this or that brand I prefer, but that’s seldom more than a spot or two.
My spaniel once did something similar. In 3 days she was in real bad shape. Took her to the vet and she was riddled with internal parasites, would have died in 24 hours. He gave her a shot and a week later she was normal. I watched her close after that when we were out and about.
