"Cannabis use increases rates of psychotic relapse and treatment failure in schizophrenia patients. Clinical studies suggest that cannabis use reduces the efficacy of antipsychotic drugs, but there has been no direct demonstration of this in a controlled study. The present study demonstrates that exposure to the principal phytocannabinoid, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), reverses the neurobehavioral effects of the antipsychotic drug risperidone in mice." Source (Emphasis is mine)Risperidone is the go-to drug for the treatment of schizophrenia, excessive "reactivity" and other anti-social behaviors. There are other drugs that are similar, like Abilify but they are on-patent and studies indicate that they activate the same neuro-transmitter chemical pathways as Risperidone.
It has been widely noted that many mass shooting events have been perpetrated by actors who have/were prescribed antipsychotic drugs.
What are never publicized are the tox-screens showing the THC or synthetic cannabinoid status of the shooter.
If news sources publish the seat-belt status and the blood-alcohol levels of people involved in fatal traffic accidents, then by extension they should be publishing the cannabinoid status of mass shooters.
Or maybe the Cannabis industry's advertising clout and political contributions are too important and the powers-that-be are running interference for them.
The ratio between CBD and THC also matters. CBD is an antipsychotic agent that balances the worst effects if THC, thus the reason CBD is sometimes used to treat Parkinsons Psychosis. Newer strains are often bred for much higher THC levels.
ReplyDeleteThere is too much we don't know about MJ for the blanket allowances it is being given.
ReplyDeleteOther legalized drugs have been studied much, much, more and have tight regulations on their active ingredients. I include tobacco and alcohol in this category.
Don't forget that there have been crazy people throughout history; right now they are being celebrated for hidden purposes. Note, for example, that mass shootings were more common before the 90's, but the coverage now is designed to make people think they are a new thing.
The 60's and 80's saw waves of mass shootings, and shootouts, that are hardly mentioned today. Some people connect the use of leaded gasoline to higher violence levels then.
The only mass shooting I remember from the 60's was the student who had a brain tumor and went up into the clock tower at the University of Texas and started shooting every one he saw. I don't recall any from the 80's unless they were gang related, which as you know, are taboo to talk about in mixed company.
DeleteJames Huberty killed 21 and wounded 19 at a McDonalds restaurant on July 18, 1984 in San Ysidro, CA. . Just one that I recalled off the top of my head.
Delete"Big cannibis" wouldn't make a pimple on ass of Big Pharma money and power.
ReplyDeleteYoung men committing mass shootings while on or having been on prescription psychotropic drugs is well documented, but very seldom discussed by the Main $tream Media.
