Orchard: Day Three

This is what the vineyard looked like May 2, at 8:30 AM.

This is what it looked like on May 3 at 2:30 PM after fence was pulled, brush was cut, herbicide was sprayed (and allowed to translocate for 24 hours) and debris was mowed.

Peak bloom

Oblinaja plum in full bloom.  It smells divine.

We are at peak bloom for Japanese Plums and Asian Pears (Nashi) and Sweet Cherries.

We are past peak bloom for Apricots.

We are just starting bloom for European Pears and the earliest Apples....those with a goodly dose of M. baccata in their make-up.

I have to admit that I was a bit smug when the reading at Mass was John 15:1-8.  Reading, in part:

By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.
