HS-6

Powder Valley has HS-6 in stock in both 1 pound bottles ($20) and 8 pound jugs (145.75) as of 9:15 PM EST today.

HS-6 is useful in buckshot, slug and very heavy 12 gauge loads.  It is also useful in handgun rounds.

  1. I have a couple of pounds of that laying around. My son uses it for 9mm ammo. I, myself am a Unique guy. I can't imagine a reloading bench that doesn't have Unique and 4895 on the shelf.

      Amen.

One of the things that Unique and 4895 share is the willingness to ignite at lower pressures. Unique is used in shotguns and is absolutely reliable down below 9000 psi. 4895 was designed for use in the 30-06 case in the Garand and the chemistry is tweaked so it will still reliably light off at -40 while rattling around inside a big case.

Ball powders often have burn rate retardants that makes them tougher to light off unless they case is chock full of the stuff. Consequently, a reloader who relies on ball powders needs many more burn rates to ensure he achieves that condition.

      Thanks for writing.
