My weekend read was One Second After by William R. Forstchen.
Professor Forstchen is a good story teller.
Wikipedia suggests that the premise behind Professor Forstchen's scenario is not fiction.
A quick trip was made to Sam's Club and a $40 investment was made. 2.3e+05 calories were purchased. That noodles out to an additional 650 Calories per day for the next year. Another three months and I will have a similar stash for everybody in the house. Cheap insurance.
The nice thing about insurance is that you win if you never need to active it. Should the world hang together beyond the expiration date on the packages I can always use the rice to feed the chickens and the vegetable oil to make soap.
Oh, and I am still planting potatoes.
