Fine Art Tuesday

Pyotr Maltsev born 1907 in Russia. Died 1993.

He painted "to commission" what the Soviet Communist party directed him to paint, usually scenes from The Great Patriotic War (aka, WWII).

  1. Thanks as always, ERJ.

One wonders what it must be like to only produce the art the "Party" (insert your political or theological favorite here). Yes, it must be good to at least do an approximation of something you love, but do you feel conflicted if inherently art is an inner expression and you can only inner express what the outer world demands?
