I saw this twenty years ago

The CDC's choice of flu strains for the quadrivalent vaccine for the 2018-2019 flu season include:

  • an A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09–like virus
  • an A/Singapore/INFIMH-16-0019/2016 (H3N2)–like virus
  • a B/Colorado/06/2017–like virus (Victoria lineage)
  • a B/Phuket/3073/2013–like virus (Yamagata lineage)
Twenty years ago most employees calling in sick to their work-place in Michigan would say "just Phuket" when asked for a reason.

The flu season has been quiet in the Southern Hemisphere.  The hotspots are mostly B/Phuket/3073/2013–like virus (Yamagata lineage).
