Good-bye Mr Brantley

Mr Brantley is one of the Eaton Rapids High School shop teachers.

One of the local factories is adding another shift to build Chevy Camaros.  They decided they need Mr Brantley more than Eaton Rapids School district.

They are getting a great guy and we will miss him.  It is my hope that he will stay in the Eaton Rapids area and continue to contribute to our local economy.

Losing good people is one of the downsides of contractually determined pay and no variable "pay for performance" component.  Individuals with more salable skills will move to jobs that offer better pay or benefits.  Individuals with fewer salable skills, or skills that are in less demand, will stay rooted in place.

But this is Mr Brantley's moment.

Good for you guy!  It is great to see that there are still opportunities for people who can actually do things with their hands.

Vaya con Dios!
