The most read article on The Washington Post website is "Where did Obama go wrong?"
One quote pretty much nailed it:
“If they’re (the Republicans) unwilling to move off their core principle, then they are unwilling to compromise, and nothing can get done,” -White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer
This statement is pathological in more ways than I can discuss. The most concise critique is to observe that statesmen craft legislation that is win-win for all major stakeholders. Jamming bad legislation up the other party's tailpipe and breaking it off might be satisfying but it is not good government.
