Is it my imagination or is the enthusiasm for electric cars proportional to the amount of electricity imported into the biggest fan-boy states and districts?

For the record, the three biggest exporters of electricity are Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Alabama.
The irony is the electricity is generated in coal fired plants upwind of DC, Md and Va. Their eyes might not see it but their lungs still breath it.
