Grab bag

We have not entertained at our house in the last 20 years.

Oh, we had a kid or two spend the night; friends of our children.

But no parties. No special, overnight guests.

Southern Belle is coming from South Florida along with Handsome Hombre. Mrs ERJ has a Baby Shower planned. We are expecting twenty guests.

We are to the stage where we are throwing clutter into boxes and hiding it. This comes at a price. Things get misplaced.

For example, the fire-starters I made from cattail fuzz, paraffin and used fryer fat disappeared. Mrs ERJ denies all knowledge of moving them.

10mm sockets

Most men are wired differently from most women.

When a woman finds a 10mm socket on the floor she thinks "I think it goes HERE but I am sure my lovey-dovey will ask me if he cannot find it. That will be a great lead-in for a conversation that will make us more connected."

Most men will chalk up the loss of another 10mm socket to the 10mm worm-hole and buy another ten of them. Somewhere, in a parallel universe is a pile of sockets taller than Mt Everest. Presumably it is in China where the ten new ones are coming from. Does he think to ask his wife? Nada.

I am sure we could solve all of our supply-chain bottlenecks if we could just learn to exploit the 10mm socket, 1/2 box-end wrench, black-sock and shrinking fried SPAM worm-holes.

Mom's roommate update

She never had a computer! Is not sure she will be able to see the screen. I will bump up the default font size and preload some Youtube channels. She likes flowers, minions and sweet rolls.

She would probably love Pinterest but I will leave that for the Social Activities Director.

Robot update

The team ran into some communications issues. Loose wires were found.

The two "drivers" are using game controllers and they must coordinate their efforts.

They lost one of the tractor drives in the corner of the unit. They installed a new one and painted it John Deere Green for good luck.

Belladonna

Belladonna is putting a lot of effort into eating healthily. That means all kinds of exotic foods are showing up in the refrigerator. Things like cauliflower crust pizza.

She says that it is not as bad as it sounds. In fact, she informed me that we need to keep buying whichever brand we bought last. She said it was extremely flavorful and it seemed like it was rich in fiber.

According to Mrs ERJ, we have not purchased cauliflower pizza crust or riced cauliflower in the last two months. Maybe Bella found something in the back of the freezer.

  1. I reckon they're getting better at faking real foods with vegan or vegetarian choices, but Bacon and Sausage are foods that can't be faked. I don't care how good they prepare the Turkey.

I like Cauliflower as a vegetable, but as pizza crust?...nah Brah.

  2. Just because it's not as bad as it sounds, doesn't mean that it doesn't still exist on the bad end of the Good vs Bad spectrum.

  3. Sure hope the fire starter doesn't show up at the party as bean dip. It would be awkward if everybody liked it and wanted the recipe!

  4. When I looked at the photo initially I thought it was a bunch of wet dog fur. Now I'm wondering if it's actually the cauliflower pizza crust? LOL - there's really no good way of asking this without potentially offending the daylights out of someone. But...

    1. Sir! That is the fire-starter. Isn't it obvious from the tiny cattail seeds? I needed to pat it out thin to make it quick to cool and easy to cut into rectangles.

  5. Whoops - makes perfect sense! It's been a long time since I was in cattail country. Glad it's not the pizza crust!

    1. Hey! Wait just a minute.

Maybe I should ask Belladonna about that.....

      Or, not.....

  7. Haha, we have 2 with celiac in our home. I have tried the cauliflower crusts homemade and prebought. Tis true, they aren't bad. Some gluten free stuff is cardboard. Literally. I have tried several brands (us gluten tolerant folks get Tony's or DiGiorno if its on sale!), Newmans Own makes a decent cauliflower pie, for what you pay at the discount store. If you get cauliflower (or grow it*), and some almond flour you can make them at home as easily as a traditional flour crust but no rise time is needed.

  8. I would have been like all the other commenters on the cauliflower pizza crust, but MOD Pizza offers one and my wife tried it out, and I gotta say it's pretty good - taste and texture are not bad at all and complement the other topping flavors. But I still prefer the thin crust.
