A few pictures

Belladonna is nearing the end of her program. She asked if we had given any thought about what we were going to give her for a Graduation Gift.

As you can see, my chest-enhancement surgery was very successful even if it was gravity challenged. The Kardashians have nothing on me.

Yes, I still wear shirts like this.

After much consideration, I decided to give her a gift of TEN!! (yes, 10!!!) vintage, collectable Tee-shirts.

I hope Bella was pulling our legs. She will be making 4X as much as my retirement check.

Fixtures for mature people should use contrasting colors/darkness for increased visibility. For stairs, the horizontal treads should be light and the vertical dark. Power outlet cover plates should contrast with the wall and the actual outlet contrast with the cover-plate or escutcheon.

The preferred form for the actual outlet should be contoured to guide the prongs of the cord into the correct location.

Not that WE need it. But we have friends and family who are OLD!

Red-heads. Play with them at your own peril.

Lichens can be a useful indicator of nutritional status. Rapidly growing limbs shed bark and consequently shed the lichens growing on the surface of the bark. Slowly growing trees or limbs do not shed bark quickly and can become crusty with lichens.

Splitting a log for fence posts.

Clumps of Orchard Grass just starting to show a little bit of blade extension.

  1. I saved one of my favorite fainting goat does with extract of usnea a couple years ago . The other does kept her out in a cold winter rain and she came down with listeriosis commonly known as goat polio . It kills 98% of all goats that get it . We need to get our medicine from nature like man has done for the last few thousand years before the introduction of chemical synthetics .

  2. Should have mentioned that usnea is a common lichen that grows on most older slow growing trees .

  3. I don't recollect her age. But adult children should not get "graduation presents." She has been living with you, presumably rent free while she did her program, right? Present her with an cumulative rent invoice and then forgive it.

OK, maybe I'm a grinch. At most, a family meal at a nice restaurant to celebrate.

  4. Interesting observation on lichens. I never thought of that. As for splitting fence posts I would take my chain saw and cut the beginning of the spit up the post for about a foot and put the first wedge in there to start it. Kinda gave it a direction to go. --ken

  5. In all fairness, vintage t-shirts are now a thing.

  6. My Aunt and Uncle provided 1st class university tuition to both of their daughters. Both were very intelligent in school and have good chances of succeeding.

One graduated from MIT Boston, the other a degree at Baylor Waco. Both were told the same thing - "Do not expect an inheritance from us when we pass on. Neither of us were given an inheritance but had to make our way to give you what ours could not afford to give us. Your inheritance is the opportunity to take advantage of what your education gives you."

Seems fair to me. And both daughters have proven the case, they are doing well for themselves and their families.
