Today and tomorrow's project is to cut a tree in my back yard.
The house is north of the tree and the power wires are south and east.
The prevailing wind is from the west but it has been from the east today and is predicted to be the same tomorrow. The Captain volunteered to help take it down but he is not available today.
The plan is to attach a snatch-block (a very large pulley) to the base of this tree seventy five feet west of the tree that must come down.
This is the same image as the leading image but has been trimmed to make the pull rope more visible. You can see the power wires in the background.
The pull rope is attached about 25 feet up the trunk.
This is a good candidate for bore or plunge cutting.
