America's (and Britain's) only chance to avoid following the Weimar Republic's economic trajectory is to vigorously grow our economy.
That means chopping back regulations.
Regulations are "Default: STOP". That is, "Stop until you satisfy the regulator that you are complying with their understanding of the regulations".
Every stop creates a delay-to-market. Every delay creates cash-burn as staff is paid, interest is accrued. Every delay-to-market allows competitors advantage and increases the risk of your product/service appearing dated and low-feature.
Regulators don't care. Nope. In fact, stopping people is how they demonstrate that they are "needed" and "necessary".
There are far too many laws on the books. They are contradictory and ambiguous. Judicial interpretations twist and bend the original intent. There is far too much governmental meddling in the economy. The US auto industry pissed away $200 Billion in trying to meet EV mandates. That amounts to $1800 per household. For one industry. For one requirement.
The regulatory process is the choke-point that is strangling American innovation.
The only way to loosen the noose of regulation is to thin-the-herd. Eliminate departments. Comb the lice out of the scalps of productive people. Throw them into the fire (figuratively speaking).
Lifting notes: (135 * 6) + ((225 *6) * 4) = 6210 for dead lifting session.
Thin the herd indeed !!!!

ReplyDeleteSlashing the regulatory apparat is indeed mission critical, and not just in the economy.
ReplyDeleteBut why does the economy need to grow? The answer is debt money creation. Money is created by loans and must be repaid with interest. Where does the interest come from? From future loans/money creation. It's a ponzi scheme.
We can argue that Ponzi schemes are horrible but it is a moot point. We are in one. Coldly and clinically speaking, we are in the last third-or-tenth of the escalating, exponentially accelerating growth of the PS.
DeleteAt this point, those of us without golden parachutes are looking for soft haystacks to land in.
In my view, the adults are now managing the operations. Time to grow up and accept reality. Go to work, and accept the terms of current contract. Or not, it’s your choice. You can leave if you don’t want to accept the new operation.
ReplyDeleteJust like all companies and businesses when I was younger.

Soooo, you're saying burn the bureaucrats...hey, sounds good to me. What?! They could quit or get fired?...ok...
ReplyDeleteSomething to ponder...
ReplyDeleteNow mind you, I'm a regular reader here, I feel the same way everyone else here does, however I used to live 'up there', and have relatives that are 'like that'... and lemme tell ya, they believe it. In their heart and soul, they believe it, believe it all to be true, don't question the incongruencies one whit. Abortion is healthcare, climate change is literally killing us all, the arctic will be ice-free in .. They believe it. All of it. Their foundational views are built on it. Not a benevolent Lord God Creator. Big bang, eons, random bugs floating in pond scum became monkeys aaaannd, here we are.
They believe it so much they're willing to kill and be killed over it. This stuff going now, it IS existential to them, because of what they believe. They're the managerial class. A whole NEW proletariat.
That's why there's going to be a fight.
The only peaceful way out is to show them they've been lied to, but even then, they'll still cling to their beliefs.
I go to church with many people who shook their heads at the economy under Biden, and in the next breath would say "Thank God Trump didn't get elected because it would be SO much worse". Even though one could draw short, straight lines between Biden Administration policies and Gawd-awful outcomes.
DeleteThey are true-believers.
What is this 'figuratively' nonsense?
ReplyDeleteGrease fires are difficult to put out. The smell of burning flesh is horrible.
DeleteNot if it burns hot enough, case In point all the cremation happening
DeleteSigh... You are correct, and he/she is so deep in the kool aid that they will never be productive in their jobs going forward.
ReplyDeleteAsk A Manager is an interesting advice site to see how the other half thinks. The readers are 90% female and US based with some readers from the UK (based on responses to her 2024 salary survey). The wailing and gnashing of teeth of federal employees is wonderful to read as a conservative male...
ReplyDeleteYou can't just slash the number of enforcers/ regulators without slashing the number of regulations - if you do, the delays to determine compliance will grow.
ReplyDeleteWhat is needed is more federal employees who are looking for ways to move activity forward instead of ways to stop it.
Most federal regulations had a good reason when they were created, and most are individually useful. The big problem is the combined mass of thousands of "good ideas" is no longer a " good idea".
For example, there was a need for environmental review in the 1960's, but since then it has grown to ridiculous overkill, mostly through court decisions. Here the clock can only be turned back through Congressional action, and maybe not even that.
Other areas are similar, some are worse.

P.S. I'm a conservative White male federal supervisor.
I was in business as an owner of a company for 50 years. During that time basic business practices changed to comply with federal and state regulations that had all been put in place not to help the consumer but solely to consolidate profit and power in big business and government. None were put in place to make life better for the American citizens or small business. None--ken
DeleteYou lost me on " more federal employees".
DeleteI should have clarified "more who try to help and fewer who don't".
DeleteIdeally we'd have fewer overall, but I don't see meaningful reductions without regulatory relief.

I made the mistake of looking up Askamanager. The hysterical menstruation about pretty much everything was alternately hilarious and infuriating. These useless bints really do think we owe them a comfortable living, just because they’re so special and educated and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI view it as intel on how the hysterical left thinks...
