Immigration

This is how I read the tea-leaves:

Homan starts with the low-hanging fruit. He starts with the illegal immigrants who are already incarcerated. Stick their heads in a spit-bag, put a stamp on them and mail them back home.

Simultaneously, Homan sets up a rat-line for employees in non-cooperating jurisdictions to identify previously-identified illegal aliens being detained by local authorities. He has quick-reaction forces who can generate a warrant, swoop-in and collect the legally-involved illegal alien before the liberal judges can dump them back into the street. There will be no shortage of employees whose lives are endangered by having to repeatedly deal with violent, (previously) untouchable illegal-aliens.

Homan would be an idiot if he didn't ask NSA to monitor local law-enforcement databases and comb them for persona non grata getting checked into the gray-bar hotel.

Homan will have a bottleneck in terms of the number of marshals available to escort PNG felons back to their home countries. He might have six months where this process generates all of the volume he can safely repatriate to their home countries.

Homan will also need a plan to deal with PNG who return. I suggest that Trump strike a deal with Nayib Bukele of El Salvador and Javier Milei of Argentina to provided vendored incarceration to the returning, legally-involved PNG. They can do it much less expensively than our Federal Country Clubs Prisons and it will be less pleasant for the returning PNGs.

Immigration is fundamentally broken

The Immigration system is fundamentally broken and both parties have had opportunities to fix it via legislation. The fact that neither party touched the issue suggests that the broken system is a great convenience to powerful people.

Who benefits?

  • Power couples who want cheap nannies
  • People and corporations with property that benefits from cheap landscaping labor
  • Industries (like construction and agriculture and food-industry) that are much more profitable when OSHA and EPA regulations are blatantly ignored.

If the stupid system is to be fixed, then those powerful people need to be "inconvenienced". Meat packing plants, landscaping crews and construction sites need to be audited by a trifecta of ICE, OSHA and EPA. Families and businesses employing illegals need to be squeezed for back-taxes they were legally obliged to withhold and so-on and so-forth.

The screaming by those political donors will motivate legislators to craft rational legislation.

A modest proposal

I propose a system where "tentative work visas" are granted to healthy-skilled applicants with the condition that they need to be employeed for a minimum of 1400* hours-per-year for every full year after the visa is granted. If they drop below 1400 hours then they are deported. If they are convicted of any activity that shows up on a ATF 4473 form then they are deported.

If the migrant is here for five years and can demonstrate his willingness to work, then he will be eligible for other types of visas.

*2000 hours-per-year is often used for back-of-envelop calculations for full-time employment. Obamacare defines "full time" as 28 hours-per-week which is 1400 if extended over 50 weeks.

  1. Time limited amnesties for criminal officials to turn themselves and their colleagues in. Severe penalties for the holdouts. Anyone involved in releasing criminals is accessory to subsequent crimes and share the due penalty. If prison sentences are involved, deportation either before or after, and revocation of citizenship and loss of pension. Make Treason Painful Again!

  2. Judges need to be held accountable for the judgements they deploy.

If they give no bail releases to multiple offenders that go out for some more "sporting" they should be tried BESIDE the offender and suffer the SAME PUNISHMENT.

I bet the next batch of Judges will be more careful.

I support WORKING, Law abiding neighbors. I feel that even "citizens" need the same rules applied to them.

    Crime and stupidity should hurt.

  3. It would be great to make foreign aid dependent on reducing immigrant flows and accepting their citizens back.

The big flow to Europe from Africa dropped off not from anything in Europe or the Mediterranean, but because North African countries changed their policies to have a bigger impact on those transporting immigrants to the Mediterranean.
Going from a small fine rarely enforced to heavy enforcement of losing their vehicles made a difference.

Most places using illegal labor are relatively small and often transient - for example, lawn care, construction sites, seasonal farm labor all have relatively small groups of people in places for short periods of time; that makes spot checking for enforcement difficult and consumes lots of resources for small returns.
I'm not sure the best way to make an impact.
I wonder about a public relations campaign and a hotline for information. Many Hispanics don't like the completion and bad reputation - making push back easier may help.

    1. Simple way to fix the small and transient business issue: Make the fines for employing illegals HUGE...$1000 a day for the first one, $2000 a day for the second illegal employee, $4,000 a day for the third, etc. Go back 180 days or more. Fine rises per illegal per day.
The business owner is personally responsible for the fines.
Things will change overnight once the first one is bankrupted and loses all their possessions to a government auction.
Maybe add jail time if over 3 illegal employees or something like that.

    2. I seem to remember circa 1986, showing up to work and having to produce documents that I was eligible to be employed.....
      What ever happened to that?

    3. BOOM. What B said.
If it's so expensive to hire them, people won't. Make them Personally responsible, non-dischargeable, apply to home-owners and private individuals as well, and you'll see it all stop in a heartbeat.

    4. I remember the "Migra" raids as well. The very SIGHT of a light green van was enough to empty out my place of work! When I was in trhe Coast Guard I was stationed in Kodiak, AK. One of those vans showing up on Cannery Row emptied the canneries, sending the illegals scrambling into the hills!!! BRING...THAT...BACK!!!

  4. "The Immigration system is fundamentally broken "
    No, the system is great.
All we need to do is follow the laws that are currently in place.

  5. The solution is simple and has been on the books for nearly a century: 8 USC 1324. H/T Karl Denninger. All we need is someone with the sack to enforce it -- just once.

    1. Thanks for the info. People generally know that's it illegal but don't know why or where the laws exist. Or most of all WHY government blatantly ignores the law.

  6. Add in an immediate and automatically collected 30% tax on cash transfers south, with a receipt given to the sender for them to claim as estimated tax payments when they file. That will cover both halves of Social Security and Medicare taxes plus add a tier of Federal taxes too.

Be sure to a clause that raises the rate to 90% tax if sent to any country which refuses to accept repatriation.

    1. Crypto gets around all that.

    2. Crypto requires computers at both ends and it CAN be tracked, just look at how many of the dark web sites have been pulled down and the operators imprisoned.

  7. I have seen what I perceive as well intentioned elected leaders try to tweek the immagration laws to be fair and efficient only to have it hijacked by those that want a flood. So it goes on broken. Roger

  8. I would add to your proposal the revocation of all welfare benefits. No Medicaid, food stamps, WIC or rent assistance. I work in healthcare. They all get free Medicaid if they’re pregnant, regardless of status. There is no disincentive to keep reproducing, since the kids continue to have Medicaid and the families get WIC and food stamps for those children.

    1. In CA, Newsom "extended" MediCal (CA's Medicaid) to illegals from birth to 21, and from 65 until death. EVERY ER in California looks like a Tijuana bus station, with legal residents and US citizens standing at the back of the line. My last ER visit, a few months back, was comprised of TEN HOURS of WAITING to see the doctor for FIFTEEN MINUTES!!! Not only did I lose that workday to the wait, but the next day as well, due to me getting out of the ER in the middle of the night! THIS is the REALITY of illegal immigration and "sanctuary" cities and states...

  9. When we moved into a fixer-upper we knew that about the only people not on payroll would be Hispanics. Our state law says if you hire an alien knowingly then the gov. can take the property where they were working. We checked everyone for a green card. They may have been forgeries but how would we know. Did great work, part of our world for 2 years then they moved on.

  10. Something I would like to know is; what legal protection is an illegal alien entitled to? Does an illegal alien have the constitutional right to due process? If there is no right to due process and you snuck over, on the bus you go. We might take a look a birthright citizenship too. I know a number of countries offer some form of entitlement to citizenship but not all are as inclusive as our "if you're born here you're a citizen". Some require that at least one parent be a citizen. The asylum rules need to be enforced and people and NGO's that manipulate the rules should be prosecuted. We are also going to have to accept that current birthrates pretty much dictate that the "flavor" of this country is going to drift away from northern European toward Hispanic. As a catholic whose favorite uncle immigrated from Mexico I dont automatically fear people from our south but I sure dont want us to be overwhelmed in an invasion.

  11. Your proposal is silly. With 100+million foreigners here, the last thing we need is more. How about no residence visas for anyone, period, until there are zero identifiable foreigners within our borders? That'll only take ten generations or so, that's soon enough.

  12. The problem is getting the liberals to not undo everything as soon as they get power back. To that end we must make the liberal voters WANT to send them back. But how?

Homan announces that we can't do everything at once so sanctuary cities will be used as such by the government. Minneapolis, Baltimore, St Louis, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles will be recognized sanctuaries until further notice. All national bus carriers have been contracted to provide free rides to the nearest sanctuary for any who apply. Actions will be proceeded by 3 weeks notice so that people can avail themselves of the sanctuaries. Bus and airline carriers have been informed that transporting illegals out of sanctuary cities is a felony.

Now just use publicity and enforcement actions to drive the illegal immigrants towards the sanctuaries. Sort of how Chicago looks now - flooded with high crime illegals, only 100 times worse. The goal? Get the illegals all packed in a few places, supported by their liberal friends until the libs can't stand it anymore and beg Homan to come in and clean up

Flood huge zone and ram it down there throat until they puke. That will leave a bad enough taste in their mouth that immigration will be dead for a generation.

  13. Running a farm for 30 years, very few applicants did not have a work permit. Those that didn't, didn't get hired. Now whether they actually filed tax returns year end, or HAD 6 dependents to justify exemptions? Should that be the employers job to prove or disprove?
Minimum wage laws are adhered to. Now overtime. One hour of sick pay for each 40 worked. Long term care insurance mandatory (with a very poor payout if you get to that junction).
3 employees actually got citizenship. 5 years & well over $10,000 with numerous trips to the big city office for whatever the next step of demand was. For each of them. So don't say it can't be done.

    1. Handsome Hombre, my son-in-law is from Central America. He is going through that process. Your numbers are solid.

It can be done. But if the raw numbers are too big, then "cheating" becomes too tempting, too lucrative.

      It is a balancing act.

  14. Trump, Homan et. al will try to address the issue. They will be roadblocked at every turn. Don't expect the NSA or any other agency to willingly help. The criminal left has had decades to infiltrate and subvert every Fed agency. They are all corrupt to the core. Many rank and file employees may be patriotic but anyone ina position of authority will be compromised. The next four years are going to be a battle.
