Nation Building

The difference between what is now Germany and France is striking.

A critical study of German statehood might be instructive for developing nations approaching statehood. Sadly, most of those developing nations lack a common language and "tribe".

  1. And the last sentence makes most of the rest of the 'lessons' moot, as evidenced by what has/is happening in Africa as 'tribes' try to form/reform/lather/rinse/repeat...

  2. The fact that Germany is a mess is old news but who knew what is now France was so stable! Also, it looks like Sicily has always been a unified island?
