Incidental lessons from "Gaza"

Imagine a densely populated island of people surrounded by a nation who the island-people loath and hate.

Furthermore, imagine that the island has no tangible resources. No fuel. No power-plants. The surface water is polluted and the ground-water is suffering from salinity, but even that is problematic if there is no electricity to pump it out of the ground. Not enough land-area to grow even 10% of the calories required to sustain the population. No harbors. No neighbors willing to accept "refugees".

They pick a fight with the nation(s) that surround them.

Imports from the surrounding nation(s) drop to zero. Military action from the surrounding nation(s) destroys what little internal infrastructure exists. The transformers that feed solar power into the grid are hit. The potable water pumping stations. The sewage plants. Tank farms holding petroleum.

The island prepares for a Stalingrad type invasion.

The surrounding nation(s) do not invade. General Thirst, General Hunger and General Cold/Heat do not need to invade. They already lurk in every corner of every apartment complex.

Satan laughs because our actions creates the future that we most fear.

Manhattan and Detroit and Minneapolis and Chicago and Washington D.C. fear an uprising by the unwashed masses...the unwashed masses outside the city limits.

The elites in those cities seem to be intent on provoking the surrounding "nations". Media (the mouthpiece of the big-city elites) informs us that the average guy wearing camo, driving a pickup or who grows a large garden is a terrorist the full equivalent of Hamas.

What could go wrong?

  1. Yeah, the loudmouths alwys say that when the time comes they'll go to the farms and take what they want.

I figure they might get 20 miles into "Rural" before they are all fertilizer or crow food.

They think "across the street" is a long shot. They have no clue.

  3. ERJ, I have argued for years that cities are only resource sinks in that they cannot exist without significant inputs from the outside world. Take those outputs away and things fall apart rather quickly.

On the bright side, the shipment of trash to the countryside for disposal in landfills would likely slow down...
