Mathew Brady born 1822 near Lake George, New York. Died 1896.
Famous for his photograph of the US Civil War. Not "Fine Art" as it is normally defined but his images certainly evoked strong feelings in viewers.

ReplyDeleteThat is a fair point. On the other hand, I don't think he was welcomed in CSA controlled areas. Given that the Union was getting their backside kicked, that would be much of the post-battle field.
DeleteEven when Grant was in charge, the Union still lost more soldiers (in general) but Grant kept pouring troops into the contest.
Is he the one with recently discovered follow up photos showing the "dead" soldiers standing up after the first photo?
