Offered in the interest of art appreciation

Five minutes of video footage of a Labrador Retriever plying his craft at Brabantse Kempen in the Netherlands. Interesting because many of the artists featured here painted in the Netherlands (the Dutch school) or Denmark which is within spitting distance of the Netherlands.

Skip the first 30 seconds to get to the good stuff.

  2. I don't understand. No shooting. How does the dog know there is a planted(?), random dead duck hundreds of yards "out there"?

    1. It looks as if the trainer is using a whistle to stop the dog and then using hand-and-body signals to direct him with regard to search for the duck, pheasant or rabbit.

  3. Syrah the Mighty was a black lab. I have a special place for them.

  4. Father in law had a working kennel for Field Trial Beagles. Took them every weekend for trial runs. When he went to the trials the
dogs he took were well trained and at least half sold. He had an actual trainer who retired from being a show judge.
