St. Bernoulli, don't fail me now

      Thanks for hanging in there.

      As DaveS said, the Bernoulli Equation describes the interactions between the velocity and pressure of a gas. As the velocity increases one of Newton's laws implies that the pressure must decrease in order for energy to not be "invented". Bernoulli made the relationship explicit.

      Before Bernoulli, planes could not fly and carburetors did not work.

      And since flying is a miracle, there had to be a saint involved.
