Biting the hand that feeds you

  1. Sounds like a management problem to me. Perhaps a little financial"incentive" is in order, except that (P)resident droopy drawers would give them more money and applaud their decision.

  2. ERJ, I have not formally watched sportsball in years (do not even own a mechanism I can watch it own, but did watch the 2020 World Series with TB The Elder because his beloved Dodgers were on (oddly enough, that remains of one the happiest memories I have of those last six months). If it is on somewhere else, I suppose I watch it by default - and things become almost normal. And then some foolishness like this gets me aggravated all over again.

Although given the inability of the NCAA to make other key sports decisions, I perhaps wonder if their time as the "premier college sports association" is quickly passing.

  3. And she's got 'excuses' now that they have been called out... sigh

  4. Stop watching
    Stop talking about it/them
    Stop buying jerseys, hats, swag
    Stop paying attention

The money is all that matters to them. Take that away.

    1. You are correct. And your advice extends to all enemies. Starve the beast.

    2. I can't take away my money from them - because I've never given it to them to begin with!

At D2 or D3 level, the NCAA can still be decent, but D1 is lost in stupidity, unfortunately. Combined with their refusal to pay athletes that give them LOTS of income, I think we're seeing the beginning on the end of their dominance of college sports.

  5. A competent Sports Association would call that a late appearance resulting in an intentional forfeit. A few of those and the alumni will take corrective action.

The institutions I attended get none of my money, and I've told them why. Not just because of the sports, although that is the worst, most in-your-face display of entitled ingratitude. It's because they have corrupted their mission. I don't much sports anymore because of it, college or professional. Missing it isn't enough to put up with that.

  7. I wonder how many South Carolina alumni just took the school out of their annual charitable donation and lifetime estate plans.

  8. South Carolina has been just a state as far as I'm concerned. shrug
Touched down there once long ago on my way back from Germany and have no intentions of any more contact. Let em burn...
