Kindness abounds

These things happen so often that we don't pause and reflect.

The young man in the picture was born with an issue. He has been through multiple surgeries and is fed through the port in the side of his belly.

The young man's grandfather noted that this little fellow, named Gabriel, enjoyed hats on one of the forums the grandfather frequents.

Forty-three readers from around the world took the time to select a hat and mail it to Gabriel with no expectation that their kindness would be noted.

This may be a small thing but it heartens me that we still have the ability, nay, the need...to form community even if it does not look like the arch-type village we lived in circa 1500 B.C.
