In the 80s-90s, when "Santa Fe style" became trendy, a friend who had moved from NM to Boston told me that people there were making special trips to Santa Fe, for social capital. Santa Fe was changing to be what the coastals with money wanted, and I started saying that it was no longer in NM, but now just outside Boston. So, the climate similarity makes perfect sense.
I was in Santa Fe a few times during the 80s and 90s - we used to call it 'Santa Fake'. The natives seemed to be right on board with the farce, if they'd been any better organized, it would have felt just like a Disney attraction.
Don't like the climate where you are, move somewhere else. You won't like it there either. People are just perverse.
ReplyDeleteInteresting map. Not sure I 'agree' with it, but interesting...
