I moved the side frames into Kubota's room.
I positioned them upside down to make it easier to shoot the screws through the slats.

2 1/2 inch deck screws and 5/4" decking for slats. |

I love washers. |
The decking is still pretty juicy. Water ran out when I ran the screws down. They are pretty bouncy but hopefully they stiffen up when they dry. The shrinkage will be interesting.

The fan is running because the customer thinks it will help dry out the boards. |
I ran into one problem. The safety rail was 73 inches from the floor and the frame is 67.5 inches wide. Square root of the sum of the squares suggests that the distance across the diagonal is +99 inches....and the ceiling is 96 inches high.
I had to shorten the bed to be able to spin it around right-side-up.
Sigh!
The customer is happy but is now asking for steps.
I love 5/4 deck boards. Use them all the time, for a variety of projects.
ReplyDeleteAhh. You made that old fatal mistake of not measuring twice and cutting once. I do it all the time. Hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteYou could always tell him to jump up there... Good exercise... :-)
