The classic parenting move is to re-associate the consequences back to the child who exercised the action that created the consequence. The kid made a mess....make that kid clean up that mess.
Washington DC is sadly in need of some of that kind of parenting. Many of their politically expedient policies dump the grief and chaos on states that are far from the Beltway. It only seems fair that they should receive a portion of the grief they are dumping on Tx, Az and Ca.
