Soiled doves

It is breathtaking to see how rapidly CNN and MSNBC are imploding.

Not a lot of green in the right column Source
One-hundred percent of CNN's programming is marketed as "news". I think their reputation within the broader, US population took a big hit when all of their projections for the last election were profoundly wrong.

I clipped it at 10 for the sake of compactness

MSNBC is the all-news "cable" variant of NBC. They are doing too well either.

CNN is laying people off because their revenue is cratering.

Comcast is feeling-out the market to see if anybody is interested in purchasing MSNBC.

    1. "Existential" suggests the firing squad or execution.

The current trend threatens to put checks and balances (like the unemployment line) on their formerly unfettered power and their propensity to "spin" stories and call it "news".

    2. Exactly. In their eyes that is existential... they would rather perish. Thats how warped they are.

  2. I cut the cable some 15 years ago because I found myself listening to a bunch of pundets speculating on what the news might be, as in it hasn't happend yet. GIANT waste of time. Roger

  3. I have avoided broadcast TV for over a decade. So much of it is poor quality propaganda and stupid advertising (the line between the two can get blurry).
As for news, I FAR prefer to read my news than to hear someone read it.
I can read it faster and it's better written: unfortunately, these days little is well written, but better is at least a step in the right direction.

  4. I really think that most of these so-called "news" outlets should be prosecuted under the Trades Description Act. They are not providers of news , they are just pedlars of a very biased and one-sided set of junk opinions.

  5. Comcast is looking to unload a number of other channels in addition to MSNBC.

  6. At CNN Bill Maher is the only one that might accidently actually say something truthful. So of course his is the largest decrease among libtards.

  7. ERJ - There is a theory on some of the Tube of You channels I follow that many sites will be disappearing as they were kept open purely for the political advertising dollars. Now that the money is gone, they only cost money and do not generate revenue.

The same will now be true for these "media" sites. Loss in viewers equals loss in advertising dollars. Loss in advertising dollars means they become less and less sustainable.
