We live in interesting times

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/01/breaking-godless-biden-regime-flagged-americans-who-shopped/

I am not used to hearing the term "Christian Bible". I suppose the Old (Jewish) books are "not Christian" even though they are included in the canon of the Christian Bible. It is an odd choice of words.

If the reports are true, we live in interesting times.

Cows

Moved to a new paddock where it will be easier to feed them.

It took me 90 minutes to trouble-shoot the problems with the electric fence. My methods are not very efficient. I have a Gallagher fence tool which tells me voltage, amps and direction the current is flowing. I find a short. I walk back to the barn and turn off the fence. I fix the short. Then I walk back to the barn and turn on the fence. Then I find the next short. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. The fence is now running 7kV at the far-end and with a 6 Joule energizer that should be plenty to get a frisky cow's attention.

Sprite will be visiting friends in the deep south (Toledo, I believe) and she is reluctant to let me use her tractor to move the bales of hay which may make it a challenge.

The current plan is to ship one animal out a week from now which should result in a bale of hay lasting 9 days. Feeding 50 pounds of corn, which should stretch it to 12 days. AND, enough warm weather to melt the ice covering the grass and make the feeding of hay and corn unnecessary.

If everything goes in the toilet, small, square bales can be had for $7 a bale and I only need two-per-day until Sprite comes back from Toledo.

And folks wonder why meat is expensive.

Gym notes

I set a personal record (PRed) on deadlifts yesterday at 225 pounds.

For non-gym-rats, 225 pounds is a round number. It is five, 45 pound weights.

But you say "225 pounds is not a round number! And neither is five or 45."

Converted to metric, 45 pounds is within an eyelash of 20kg. So, yes Virginia, 225 pounds is very close to 100 kg and is therefore a very, very round number.

Mrs ERJ rolled her eyes at this explanation. "Sure. Tell that to your back if you blow it out..."

I tried to explain to her how COOL 225 pounds look. Especially the sand-filled, plastic encased weights used on the deadlift platform. 225 pounds looks like double racing slicks on the back of a dragster.

She was unmoved.

Yesterday was 1 x 10 x 135 pounds (no straps)

4 x 6 x 205 pounds (straps)

2 x 225 pounds (straps...just to see if I could)

The 10 AM crowd in the weight room was an enjoyable group of people. A mom-and-daughter who were not wearing double-earbuds. A cross-fit goblin (all business). A red-head with skin so pale she probably had to put on SPF to go out at midnight.

  1. Well done ERJ! If your form is correct (do not round your back - but I am sure Belladonna told you that), your back will be fine.

The first story....not surprised if true. If true, will be roundly denied and then explained away.

  2. Joe have you ever tried takeing a small vise grips and a coated copper wire with each end stripped clean Clamp one end on a tee post and loop one end on the fence, grounding out the fence. Make your repair, kind of strange, that first touch. Woody

    1. I thought about using a length of chain, primarily to drag down a span to make it easier to step over and, incidentally, partially grounding it out so if I DID touch it I would not get flattened.

Fully grounded out, my particular energizer's pulse approaches 80 Amps at peak pulse. Scares the bejeebers out of me. Besides, walking is supposed to be good for my health.

  3. Why not move a bale before Sprite leaves, cover it with a tarp, and ring fence it with a temporary charged perimeter wire or two?

    1. Yeah. It is going in Monday. She wanted to move it the day-before-yesterday but I was afraid the cows would tear into both bales.

    1. Better than 50% chance that the people who made the decisions to do that won't leave when Biden leaves.

As bad as Biden is, the permanent Deep-State bureaucrats are worse.

  5. I've seen the term Christian Bible before, but not very often - it denotes someone so clueless about religion that they think of Bible as a generic term for religious texts.

  6. Dick's Sporting Goods!? Seriously!? Does any conservative or Christian still shop there? That's all Biden supporters in there, both customers and corporate!

    1. The way they're doing this, they are guaranteed to get LOTS of false positives.
