I slept for about five hours. Sleeping on my back was a non-starter because it made me cough. I woke up a little after 2 a.m. My temp was an improbable 95.7 F.
Lots of thick, stringy phlegm everywhere. The first half-hour awake involved making a cup of coffee and very productive coughing. Temp at 4:30 was a more plausible 97.9 F.
No enlarged lymph nodes yet, so my body's immune system does not recognize that I am sick. I expect that to change over the next 48 hours. I consider enlarged lymph nodes to be a positive sign. It means the fire-fighters are scrambling to jump on the ladder and pumper trucks.
Mrs ERJ is still in bed and is coughing every couple of minutes.
I am working at staying hydrated and taking guafenesin which is a mucus thinner. My goal is to make it easy for my lungs to keep clearing out the mucus.
Fiddling around at the reloading table is on the docket for today. That counts as light work. A huge note of thanks to my neighbor who lives south of me. He reminded me that making miniature brass-and-pewter artifacts gives me joy and purpose.

Pot of soup or beans on the stoveis always a welcome thing.
ReplyDeleteGlass, drop of whisky, squeeze of lemon, spoonful of honey, boiling water, stir. Mum used to give it to us as boys. Though I imagine the whisky must have been in homeopathic amounts.
ReplyDeleteIf you were closer, I'd bring a redneck Tupperware of whole chicken soup with rice and a container of live culture kimchee.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is good, tea is my choice for constant flooding of the system with a lot of tea steam inhaled.
My preferred tea has been Organic Great Value Ginger Turmeric tea. Inexpensive and I get about 4 cups of good tea from each bag.
Please be aware given your baby sitting duties and such that round 2 maybe round 3 is likely.
Get better buddy, good people are hard to find.
I find reloading to be very relaxing
ReplyDeleteBorrow a nebulizer from someone, unless you already have one.
ReplyDeletePut saline solution, a drop of hydrogen peroxide and a drop of lugol’s iodine into the cup.
Inhale the mist 3+ times per day / night.
This treatment softens / hydrates the goop in the pipes and kills the viruses present.
This is our family’s go to since the Kung Flu days.
VERY effective!

Hey Mike. What kind of saline solution? Might first thought was eye drops! That can't be right...
DeleteSterilize some clean water. Heating in a microwave to boiling is acceptable. Let it sit for five minutes.
DeleteThere are two common concentrations. One concentration mimics the salt concentration of blood. It has 0.9% salt by weight. 1.0% is close enough for government work, so 150 ml of water and 1.5 grams of non-iodized table salt is about right.
The other concentration is 7%. It is not used for irrigating, softening dried mucus and plumping up tissues. It is primarily used to shrink tissues. The 0.9%-to-1.0% is petty safe as long as you use sterile solutions AND if you call for help if things go sideways.
I am not a doctor, yada, yada, yads.
