Need to know basis

Tax Avoidance = GOOD. Tax Evasion = ILLEGAL

You may wonder why I have been coy about identifying the type of livestock I picked up a few days ago.

For the most part, it is to not lay a trail of crumbs down that make it easy for the government to tax or control me. Most people are inherently lazy. They will make a show of doing their job. They will first go after the people who are flaunting their illegal activity. Then they will go after the low-hanging fruit.

Random factoid: The Inca Empire levied a tax of Head Lice on a very poor tribe that had no gold. The tax collectors did not want other villages to be encouraged to pursue the same tax-dodge. So the villagers had to constantly comb through their hair to collect enough head-lice to fill the required levy to be delivered twice a year.

Yes, governments can be that petty.

I don't know where this was recorded

In Michigan, tents, CONEX containers, storage pods and other "structures" that are rest on the surface and not attached to foundations are not liable to building codes. If you can pick it up and move it with a fork-truck, it is considered "personal property" and not a building

The man shown in the video was cited and fined by the county zoning commission based on footage shot from an aerial drone.

The man was lucky. The judge dismissed the case and vacated the fine when the county official admitted that they had not sent anybody to visit the site.

The judge called it an unconstitutional search because the drone data was collected and used "without probable cause". The entire case was poisoned by the county's inability to demonstrate that the structure met the definition of "building" that required a permit and the a priori issuing of fines assuming that it was.

Given how indescribably nosy the government is, wanting to know EVERY detail, and given their rapacious greed...why would I hand them any information on a silver platter. That would put me into the category of low-hanging fruit or giving the appearance of blatantly not-conforming to their "authority".

Tax Avoidance is GOOD!!!

Taxes are not "all about revenue". The tax code is often used to modify behaviors and to guide culture.

Owner-occupied housing is considered desirable because people tend to take better care of their home if they own it. Consequently, the US tax code allows individuals to "write-off" the interest they pay on a mortgage. That is a write-off that does not apply to virtually any other form of interest.

Agricultural land is considered desirable from the standpoint of national food security. The property tax rates on agricultural land is lower than on residential or industrial property.

From the standpoint of the citizen, the first dollars of government revenue are spent on the core tasks of government. The last dollars of revenue are spent on stupid, counterproductive and outlandish stuff as every department focuses on "burning out the bank" to ensure their funding is not reduced in the future.

    1. I cannot tell you in plain English because AI will read the comments and then the officials will demand half of my herd.

Consequently, I will tell you in super-secret code and hope that you can figure it out:

      Very highest regards,

    1. Negative. Even smaller.

Being the cooperative fellow that I am, I would not only give them half of my herd, I would send them to the tax office along with an ample supply of food and housing.

  4. Funny not funny that this showed up in my daily reading:

Seems EU has broken Crypto. And as blockchain remains even retroactive transactions available. As America is part of the 5 eyes intelligence system I'd say it's true in America also.

Some here might remember how many "encoded" messing systems turned out to be unsecure as the Feds used those "hidden" messages against folks in court. The internet isn't secure, and even deleted messages are saved so speak here like you would speak loudly at a public place.

Ecclesiastes 10: 20Do not curse the king even in your thoughts, or curse the rich even in your bedroom, for a bird of the air may carry your words, and a winged creature may report your speech.

Keeping a low profile in a lot of things is useful. As that Chinese curse says "May you come to the attention of the authorities", seems that's been a not good thing for centuries.

Trusted friends and trusted family (sadly not all are trustworthy) and a strong faith in your God have been the best resources for surviving bad times.

Michael the anonymous today it seems :-)

    1. Sadly, it is too late for me. In total, the blog has somewhere near five-million words out in the wild. Within that five-million words is plenty of material that can be snipped and used out of context, even material that is clearly labeled as "fiction"

IDK Joe. Seems like the ground clutter of all the keyboard warriors who no doubt are sneering at my "cowardly" OPSEC comments are fogging that system.

Seems mostly so far that they are using social media to generate patsy leads (let us go to DC and....) and you're not so feebleminded to rush off to meet up with PATRIOT Ray Epps.

I've not read you commenting about welding steel onto a dozer, your far more intelligent than that. Those are the low hanging fruit for pickup thinking their anonymous and "safe".

Gather your trusted friends and trusted family buddy. A little story from my German Grands during the Weimar situation who as farmers had to keep a well fed ear in the police station as to keep moving "excess" milk cows and such from farm to farm as to avoid nasty fine level taxes.

LOL they thought selling all and heading to America was the cure. Right into the Great Depression where similar issues concurred.

Governments 1st rule is to survive, when threatened by economics you and I are the tax cows.

As that song goes "Carry on my wayward son..."

  5. Cea Weaver, the new Director of the New York Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants doesn't seem to think owner-occupied housing is considered desirable. She refers to it as "a weapon of white supremacy" and predicts "a different relationship" with private property in the future.

There are a lot of screw balls like her waiting in the wings. They really want to change America.

  6. The use of drones for tax assessment purposes will explode if it has not already. Keeping things looking as unremarkable and "the same" is likely to become a cottage industry.

  7. Some towns will levy a fine on you for violations. Some local towns have ‘no roosters’ or limits on number of chickens. A neighbor goes to the town and complains, and the owner is fined, inspected, restricted. Your neighbors might not be your friends.
A homeowner insurance company visited a property nearby, before renewing their policy. The company cited ‘ debris, trip hazards, dangerous items’ they wanted cleaned up before renewal.
The ‘problems’ were tractor equipment, extra tires, buckets, wheelbarrows, etc. normal homestead stuff.
There were no fines, and the renewal was okayed, but it took several phone calls to explain and smooth out the problems.

    1. I've found talking with and being helpful (snow shoveling and such) to your neighbors before they start complaining is helpful. I've given eggs and tours to the curious and so far, I've had no problems.

That and I am well known by the board members, so they've been known to call me and chat about things before they go "official".

I've never had a problem I've ignored do well, so be proactive friends. Do you know all your neighbors?

  8. The biggest problem with such situations is that the government pirates NEVER suffer any personal consequences for their criminal misbehavior. Sure...the judge may dismiss charges and fines, after much pain, suffering and often legal costs incurred but the criminals in power simply try again, often successfully. Such abuses need to cause pain and suffering for the petty bureaucrats involved. Otherwise they have no incentive to behave.
